V&M Construction was started by Frank Verzillo in 1968. His mission was to build residential homes on his own, from start to finish, fostering quality construction at a reasonable cost.
V&M Construction began taking on commercial construction projects in the 1980s through the early 1990s and eventually shifted focus to building waterfront residential properties throughout the 1990s. This focus continues to the present day. Although Frank no longer builds on his own, his company still creates homes that are as high-quality and as cost-effective as when he started more than half a century ago.
In 2001, Frank began seeking alternatives to stick-building by turning his attention to modular construction and its many advantages. Frank recognized that a collaboration between V&M Construction and modular home manufacturers could provide customers with one-stop shopping, an array of options in terms of the level of construction detail, and interior products and services, all while reducing the costs, timeframes, and resources involved. Thus, in 2002, he formed Creative Components, Inc., a modular subsidiary of V&M Construction, as a means of expanding the company’s building capacity.
As Frank’s vision grew, so did the size of his company. V&M Construction has blossomed from a one-man show to a staff of 30 construction professionals and three administrative staff. Frank decided to step out of the “field” limelight and assist his daughter, Marissa, with clientele and office management. He relies on his project coordinator, Paul Baker, who has been with the company for over thirty years, to navigate company growth and apply new techniques and materials, as well as staying ahead of building trends.
Most foremen have been with V&M Construction for over fifteen years and complete education classes hosted by the Rhode Island Builder Association annually. With hard work and dedication, the company has a trained, experienced staff that takes pride in their workmanship and continues to strive toward meeting the needs of our custom home clients. All these construction achievements over a forty-year period have earned Frank a reputation for experience and integrity throughout Westerly and surrounding communities.
His customer referrals are a consistent source of new business that keeps the company on a growth track unique in this industry. Furthermore, Frank’s reputation, coupled with his pride in maintaining relationships with customers, has led to continued property management well after the home’s completion.
